How To Document A Design Change Without Confusing Your Builder

Design changes are a normal part of construction and engineering projects. A client may change the size of a room, an architect may revise a façade, a structural engineer may alter a beam arrangement, a regulatory requirement may force a modification, or a contractor may identify a construction problem that requires the design to be adjusted. The problem is therefore not necessarily that a design has changed. The problem begins when the change is poorly documented and the people responsible for building from the drawings cannot confidently determine what has changed, why it changed, and which information they should now follow.
